Recommended Reading for Healing, Discovery & Empowerment

Cancer Healing

Outside the Box Cancer Therapies: Alternative Therapies that Treat and Prevent Cancer
Co-written by one of my naturopaths, Dr. Stengler, this book goes deep on cancer and treatment protocols.

Radical Remission: Surviving Cancer Against All Odds
This can be a beacon for evidence that radical recovery is possible. Turner studied over 1,000 case studies of people who defied the odds and distilled nine key healing factors. Warning, for empaths reading some of the stories can be intense.  But, if you’re looking for evidence for hope and principles to ground your healing, this is a fabulous book.

The Ayurvedic Approach to Cancer: Engaging Your Body's Powerful Healing Abilities Through Mindset, Diet and Lifestyle
A newer addition to my library, I appreciate how this book marries ancient wisdom with modern context. It marries Ayurvedic tools — like dosha balance, herbs, routines — into a contemporary integrative cancer plan.

Life Over Cancer: The Block Center Program for Integrative Cancer Treatment
When I was designing my integrative protocol, this felt like one of the more balanced, evidence-forward guides. It offers pathways for combining conventional and holistic modalities in a personalized way.

Anticancer Living: Transform Your Life and Health With the Mix of Six
This book offers a great blueprint. I’ve used parts of it as a baseline in meal planning and habit layering. For me, it helped me see that healing lives in certain details and consistency.

Lymph & Longevity: The Untapped Secret to Health
As I deepened my interest in lymphatic health, this became a reference I revisit. It illuminates how lymph flow, clearing, and energetic support intertwine with immunity — things I now fold into my daily practices.

Spiritual & Inner Growth

You can Heal Your Life
This is a classic that has been on my bookshelf for many years.  It’s so interesting how every time I pick up this book, it resonates in a different way.  Louise Hay is one of the OGs of spiritual healing and I reference this one often.

Becoming Supernatural: How Common People are Doing the Uncommon

I love all things Dr. Joe because he bridges science, consciousness, and spiritual possibility. After my diagnosis, I found its teachings on neural rewiring, energy, and meditation deeply empowering. It reminds me that healing isn’t just physical — it’s transformational on every level.  Check out his series on Gaia too!

Heal: Discover Your Unlimited Potential and Awaken the Powerful Healer Within
This book is about remembering your inherent capacity to heal, trust yourself, and hold space for inner change. It’s beautifully written and easy to consume quickly!

Heart Minded: How to Hold Yourself and Others in Love
I love Sarah Blondin’s meditations on Insight Timer which led me to discover this book. Remember,  breast cancer lives in the heart chakra, and we can all use a tune-up in heart opening.

Healing with Nature: Mindfulness and Somatic Practices to Heal from Trauma
I have this newfound love and appreciation for trees!  Forest bathing (Shinrin-yoku) increases immunity primarily through the inhalation of phytoncides, airborne organic compounds released by trees, and by reducing stress hormones like cortisol. These effects lead to a significant increase in the number and activity of the body's natural killer (NK) cells, which are crucial for fighting off viruses and cancer cells.

Empath’s Survival Guide: Strategies for Sensitive People
As someone highly attuned, I often felt emotionally throughout my life. This guide gave me language and practices for protection, energetic boundaries, and safe self-expression especially during vulnerable months.  I had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Judith Orloff present live years ago which is why I was already familiar with her work and also had a few 1:1 coaching calls with her during my treatment — she is absolutely incredible.

Quantum Body: The New Science of Living a Longer, Healthier, More Vital Life
I remember reading this one in the HBOT chamber and it blew my mind.  I’ve been a fan of Deepok for many years and this book reinforces Dr. Joe Dispenza’s message as well.

Healing HER: Poetry that nourishes the soul through feminine energy

On my bedside table now, this poetry collection is really thought provoking, covering vulnerabilities, voice, and feminine power. It reminded me I wasn’t alone in feeling and helped frame some of the thoughts I was having.

Heart Thoughts: A Treasury of Inner Wisdom
Another Louise Hay classic, focused on the heart:)

Illuminata: A Return to Prayer
After surgery and scans, prayer became one of my strongest practices. Illuminata helped me reframe prayer beyond religion — as relationship, alignment, introspection, and sacred breath.  This book is full of short prayers for all aspects of life.

Dying to be Me: My Journey from Cancer, to Near Death, to True Healing
One of the most emotionally raw and powerful narratives I’ve ever read. This is a really interesting and inspiring story.

How to Relax

I keep this one next to my bath tub and reference it often!  It’s so simple yet so profound!  Every time I pick it up, it’s a great reminder on how to breathe into the present moment.

Nutrition

Eat to Beat Disease: The New Science of How Your Body Can Heal Itself
I love this synthesis of modern research and practicality. It helped me frame why certain foods matter, not just “what to eat,” but how they synergize with physiology over time.  Dr. William Li has a ton of podcasts out there that are really great to listen to as well!

How Not to Die: Discover the Foods Scientifically Proven to Prevent and Reverse Disease
Even for non-cancer disease contexts, this book grounded me in evidence-based nourishment. It’s a refreshing read when I need to reconnect with food as a healing foundation.

Upgrade Your Immunity with Herbs: Herbal Tonics, Broths, Brews, and Elixirs to Supercharge Your Immune System
I’ve followed Dr. Mercola for many years and found this book to be a really great reference for immune support, gentle detoxing, and rotation of herbal protocols.
